I was born in 1967 in the oldest inhabited city in the Americas, Quito, Ecuador. Its legendary history and exquisite art inspired me throughout my early years.
At twenty-two, I left my beloved country and family for a new venture in the USA. I arrived in New Jersey with two-hundred dollars in my pocket and a handful of English words. Thanks to synchronicity and hard work, I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Art History and Fine Arts, and a Masters in Education, both from Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City.
I've been creating art for the last thirty years of my life, and have shown in solo and group exhibits throughout the years, both in New Jersey and New York. I think of my art as “Symbolic Expressionism.” I’ve always used archetypes that are personal and universal, and rich colors that convey strong moods and states of mind.
Teaching has also been a passion of mine, and for over twenty years I've shared my love of art with elementary, high school, and university students alike across New Jersey. In 2018 I received the Bene-Merenti Award from Saint Peter’s University, which is an honor given to commemorate twenty years of teaching at that institution.
I stopped teaching to focus on creating more art of my own. For over a year now I've lived in Mexico, painting and drawing more than ever, inspired by the beautiful and rich culture of this great country.
