During the covid19 pandemic I worked on these series of paintings with a light in the middle.
The world seemed sad and dark, and my studio felt lonely and empty, so I needed to find my own hope and chose to do it within my artwork.
The moonlight represents that permanent energy that lifts us up and guides us through dark times, and the trees and branches represent our human struggles to survive as individuals and as a society.
As I worked, the process became therapeutic and healing. I call this time "Nowing," since I needed to be present to my feelings and my situation, aware of myself and the world, as I expressed my thoughts and emotions with brushstrokes.
